Meditation practice
"To the mind that is still, the whole universe surrenders" - Lao Tzu.

The spiritual foundation of the Awakened Life Project is the ultimate truth of non-duality or oneness.

This Absolute Truth has been communicated by mystics and teachers throughout the ages in many different cultural forms. It was been called God, Spirit, Tao, Brahman etc. We simply call it Consciousness and/or the Heart. We recognize this revelation and understanding, free from all traditional and cultural baggage, as the essential ground of who we really are. Through a commitment to regular meditation we discover an ever-deepening surrender to this ground of unity that transcends the mind. The human expression of this mystery is profound and radical trust - trust in ourselves, in each other and in Life itself.

Coming together as the One through the many is the foundation for an Awakened Life, and is essential if we are going to create anything new that is a genuine Evolution of Consciousness in the world of form. Why? Because we have to realize that we ARE Consciousness or the True Heart already, and not the very embedded and persistent illusion of a separate psychological self. Only then can "we" evolve and transform as unique authentic expressions of the One Consciousness or Heart, as opposed to "self-improving" egos.

Meditation on and as Consciousness Itself is the most direct route to the experiential discovery of the truth of non-duality. Regular group meditation creates a powerful collective field of unity and trust that is not based on techniques or anything created by the mind, and is a continual practice of letting go of attachment to the separation and endless self-concern and problems of the psychological ego.

All members of the Project are committed to a regular meditation practice. Volunteers and visitors are invited to join us. We also do one day of complete silence per week, usually Thursdays. During Silent Day we refrain from speaking, reading, writing and spend the day doing different jobs on the land with 2-3 sessions of meditation throughout the day.

If you want to experience a deep introduction to the meditation practice Peter periodically teaches Meditation Retreats..
